Our 77-acre Outdoor Center is located on beautiful Jobs Pond in Portland, CT. With a great combination of open field space, modern facilities, and tranquil woodlands, we are the ideal place for children to grow in spirit, mind, and body.

 

YMCA Camp Ingersoll staff are certified in CPR/First Aid in addition to a full-time nurse on duty during all camp hours. Our staff members have been carefully selected based on their character, judgement, maturity, experience, and their ability to demonstrate the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our counselors are Character Champions who understand the importance of building a strong Camp Family. You can count on us to ensure that all of our activities are well-supervised and support your campers in making friends, learning skills, laughing, and having fun! As a licensed day camp, we meet or exceed all of the guidelines set by the Connecticut Department of Health.

Here at Camp Ingersoll, we also understand the connection between playing and learning. Our goal is to utilize Intentional Programming to keep activities engaging and exciting while ensuring that all campers have an opportunity to:

 

• ​Develop self-confidence, self-respect, and learn to accept and appreciate their own worth as individuals as they stand out as leaders amongst their peers and become a valued team member.

• Grow as responsible team members of their families and citizens of their communities as they understand that their future is being shaped now and they have the power to create change.

• Form good habits of health and physical fitness; appreciate that health of mind and body is a gift and that physical fitness and mental well-being are conditions to be achieved and maintained through making educated choices.

• Develop a sense of world-mindedness and work for worldwide understanding by being open to new people, cultures, and experiences, especially those that are foreign to their own.

• Expand and develop their capacities for leadership and use them responsibly in their own groups and in community life to guide others, solve problems, and thoughtfully choose their own path.
